Welcome to Oregon's Adventure Coast One of the staples of the native residents, which they gave great thanks for, was the abundance of fish, and seafood. That appreciation of the bounty grew as the area was settled by the Westerners who learned fishing techniques from the local inhabitants and brought with them a whole new way of preparing seafood. From there, an industry was born that has allowed the area to grow and prosper.

LATEST UPDATE:
The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission has released the 2010 halibut and sturgeon seasons. The nine-day spring halibut season will take place May 13th through the 15th, the 20th through the 22nd, and June 3rd through 5th. The fall season will be every other friday and saturday from August 6th to October 30th. The statewide limit on halibut is one fish per day, with an annual limit of six fish. The commission adopted several measures to protect the state's distressed Sturgeon population. It includes a statewide ban on green sturgeon and the establishment of a new white sturgeon sanctuary in the Willamette River. Sturgeon season ends March 31.
