North Bend, OR 97459

Located along the Oregon National Recreation Area, Horsfall Beach is a haven for locals and visitors alike. Miles of open sand, flooded deflation plain wet lands, beach and inland dunes can be found here. Surf fishing, off highway vehicle riding, horseback riding and hiking are allowed.

Famed as running legend Steve Prefontaine’s training ground and site of the former New Carissa shipwreck in 1999. Sunset Magazine named Horsfall Beach as one of their top 10 walking beaches.

Mystery Shipwreck: George L. Olson

Winter storms are notorious for revealing shipwrecks from times past, on this beach including the George L. Olson and the Sujameca. From U.S. 101 north of North Bend, turn west on Trans Pacific Lane, and follow it 4 ½ miles to the trailhead; blm.gov/or/districts/coosbay or 541-756-0100
